17 an hour 7 days ago 7 days ago 7 days ago JOB OVERVIEW PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CURRENT PAID SARPY COUNTY EMPLOYEES GENERAL PURPOSE Under the close supervision and direction of the Court Services Supervisor, Entry Security Officer's (ESO) are responsible for screening, using all equipment necessary, all who enter at security check points throughout the Courthouse Complex.
The primary responsibility of the ESO is to prevent, through thorough screening, unauthorized individuals, weapons, and contraband from entering the Hall of Justice.
Duties require moderate responsibility and independent judgement.
SELECTION GUIDELINES Formal application, rating of education and experience, interview, reference checks, successful completion of a national criminal background check, successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, and other job related tests or checks as may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Promote a positive image of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office and Sarpy County Governmental facilities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, co-workers, Elected Officials, attorneys, law enforcement, vendors, other agencies, and the general public.
Monitor entrance positions and conduct screening of incoming persons and packages using x-ray scanners, metal detectors, visual detection, and other accepted security practices.
Provide customer service by directing patrons through the security screening process and to the appropriate area of the court building.
Inspect identification badges to control employee bypass entrances and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
Detect and confiscate all weapons and/or contraband.
If a weapon is detected, the ESO will request assistance from a deputy sheriff or other law enforcement officer.
Assist all persons in locating areas (e.
g.
courtrooms, etc.
) within the Hall of Justice, Administrative Building and East Annex(s).
Provide information and respond to questions from the public and employees within their scope of expertise in a courteous and professional manner.
Assist with any and all emergencies which may arise, including fires or fire alarms, weather related emergencies, bomb threats, and other situations as necessary.
Upon completion of proper training and orientation, render immediate first aid and/or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation measures.
Notify Supervisor and summon medical personnel when appropriate.
Become familiar with and adhere to General Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and those utilized by the Court Services Division.
Possess the ability to use tact and minimum force necessary when dealing with an angry/combative person.
Maintain assigned equipment and supplies.
Maintain a current knowledge of trends and advancement in the industry.
Report to assigned worksite with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Peripheral Duties Upon completion of proper training, Entry Security Officers may be required to assume the duties of vehicle inspector.
Perform other duties as directed or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required.
One (1) year of work experience in law enforcement or security involving contact with the public preferred.
Special Requirements Must successfully pass comprehensive background checks.
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of hire.
Successfully pass a security clearance check conducted on a national and local level, including criminal record and voluntary polygraph examination.
Ability to meet Department's physical standards.
Successful completion of all required training (e.
g.
CPR) within the first six months of employment.
